How can you help someone with mental illness who refuses treatment or medication? The LEAP (Listen, Empathize, Agree, and Partner) Program was developed by expert psychologist Dr. Xavier Amador, author of the book, “I AM NOT SICK. I Don’t Need Help.”  The LEAP Approach focuses on 7 LEAP Communication Tools to help build a relationship and partnership to help with deescalation, cooperation, and compliance. These cutting-edge, science-based practices help you learn how to create therapeutic alliances that lead to acceptance of treatment and recovery and reduce involuntary hospitalizations, homelessness, incarceration and other devastating outcomes.

CONNECT is co-sponsoring this exciting programming with The Matthew Harris Ornstein Memorial Foundation and the University of Utah.
