Film Screening – “Andy Irons: Kissed by God”
July 26 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm MDT| $15
CONNECT is thrilled to collaborate with the Park City Film Series to bring the outstanding film, “Andy Irons, Kissed by God,” to the Jim Santy Auditorium on Thursday, July 26th at 7:30PM.
The film addresses bipolar disorder and opioid addiction as seen through the life of three-time world champion surfer, the late Andy Irons. Andy struggled with the same demons that millions of people worldwide battle with daily. Andy was an incredible presence on the world stage as the “People’s Champion.” He was the pride of his native Hawaii and revered around the world for his blue collar rise to fame and success. Coinciding with this magnificence, he was also wrestling with mental illness and was self-medicating, which led to his opiate addiction. The struggles that Andy had are the same struggles shared by countless people around the world – you do not have to be a champion surfer to relate to mental illness and addiction. As the opioid crisis rises to a national emergency in the United States, the untold story of Andy’s life serves to tear down the myths associated with mental illness and drug addiction and normalize the conversation around mental health.
CONNECT Summit County will be tabling at the event and will speak before the screening. If you or know of someone who is suffering, please bring them to this film. We will do everything we can to help. To preview the film, please click this link: https://youtu.be/GJWIPRvtAHk
Tickets are $15.
We look forward to seeing you at this incredible event.
