CONNECT Summit County’s New Database Coordinator to Champion Latino Affairs and Mental Health Directory

For CONNECT Summit County’s new Database Coordinator Flor Dalila Ambario, mental health isn’t just a passion, it’s personal.

“Psychology fascinates me because I grew up with a mentally ill family member which, in turn, inspired me to help others. In my [Latinx] community there is a lot of stigmatization about mental health which is something that I would love to change by educating people.” CONNECT Summit County’s mission is to create a well-informed and stigma-free community with access to mental health services for all residents of Summit County.

Born in Zihuatanejo Mexico, Ambario was raised in both Los Angeles and Park City. In her role as database coordinator, she will be responsible for maintaining CONNECT Summit County’s Directory of Mental Health Services. This is a unique resource for people in Summit County trying to find local mental health service providers. The directory makes it as easy for individuals and families to find all the relevant information they need online to make the best, most informed decisions regarding care in their lives. In order to keep the content up to date, Flor will be seeking out new providers and staying in touch with current providers for updates on their services.

“By working with CONNECT, I am hoping to help our residents realize the great resources this community has to offer,” Ambario says. In her new position, it is critical for her to maintain a very high degree of familiarity with the mental health system in Summit County and build relationships with local mental health service providers.

While Flor’s primary role is to focus on maintaining the database with current information, she will also be leading CONNECT Summit County with Latino outreach. One of her first projects that she is interested in pursuing is updating the directory to include Spanish entries, bringing her passion full circle. “Flor brings such an amazing passion and energy to this position. We feel really lucky to have her on our team,” says Executive Director Deanna Rhodes.

Ambario is currently studying for her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Salt Lake Community College and hopes to pursue a Masters. She loves to rollerblade, play basketball, listen to audiobooks, hike, listen to music, dance, and spend time with family and pet bird.
