About Part of Our Nature:
The stigma surrounding mental health acts as a barrier to seeking help, overall health, and quality of life. By emphasizing that changes in mental health and wellbeing are a “part of our nature,” the awareness campaign aims to normalize the topic of mental health, reduce stigma, and encourage people to reach out and access resources.
One of the most powerful things that we can do to overcome the stigma surrounding mental health is to share our personal stories. The Part of Our Nature campaign uses animals to represent different aspects of mental health, but there are real humans with real stories behind these animals. We selected four recognizable people in the community to be the voices behind each animal device. The intention is that through social media, we will encourage other people to post their mental health stories and describe how mental health is “part of our nature.”
CONNECT Summit County is proud to steward this campaign and it demonstrates our ability to bring together a broad community for maximum impact.
